Psalm 127 (Amplified)
A Song of Ascents of Solomon.
1EXCEPT THE Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of [anxious] toil–for He gives [blessings] to His beloved in sleep.
3Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
4As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.
5Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them! They will not be put to shame when they speak with their adversaries [in gatherings] at the [city’s] gate.

Again we are reminded that if CHRIST is not the foundation of the Family, it will not stand. If He doesn’t build the house (family), those (everyone in the family) who build it labour in vain. CHRIST should be the solid foundation of any family, starting at the father as head of the home. He is the one that must ensure that his relationship and that of his wife is sound & strong, teaching this principle to their children. We must remember that all children belong to Father (Eph 1:5) and are only given to parents as a gift to oversee, train and equip in the ways of GOD.

Scripture guides fathers to discipline their children, but not to provoke them. Fathers are to love their wives and not to be harsh with them. Wives are to submit to (not be abused by) their husbands as is fitting in the Lord. Children should obey their parents in everything and honour them. Parents must be sensitive to the needs of their children, promote open communication and give them a secure comforting home where they will feel safe, loved, secure and be willing to share their hearts, their concerns and their challenges.
Children grow up to be adults with a free will, and they will choose a way of life based on what seems desirable, true, and satisfying. Passionate Legacy is about parenting, but more than that, it is about leaving a legacy of passion for Christ. It is about doing whatever it will take in your own lives to lead our children in such a way that they choose for themselves a biblical worldview and a life following God.

Concentrate on this Sentence

So many times we receive emails asking to be sent along, or something terrible will happen to you. A family member of mine received this email being at a very low point in her life. She sent it along with the attitude that she has nothing to lose and that it might bless someone else. Later that afternoon a friend phoned her to tell her that the university fees for her eldest daughter, writing Matric this year, has been collected for the next four years on her behalf.

Now your first reaction will be – “O come on! These things do not work!” I have to agree with you it doesn’t. But for three years she and her daughter have claimed money – that doesn’t exist – claimed further studies for the daughter, that seemed impossible and Read the rest of this entry »

Blocking Mxit Chat Zones – A Visual Guide

Previously I wrote about blocking chat zones on Mxit. With the help and advice of a friend I’m posting a visual step by step tutorial to block Mxit chat zones.

There is one misconception keeps cropping up that needs to be cleared up. Mxit is NOT a chat room. Mxit is a mobile Instant Messaging (IM) service that works in much the same way that Skype and messenger does. You can, however, subscribe to Chat Rooms in Mxit and to chat to people you don’t know. This is NOT recommended as you never know whom you are chatting to. A lot of Mxit’s negative publicity comes out of these Chat Rooms; hence this article.
Here it goes:

Mxit – Blocking a Chat Room

So many articles has been written about the dangers of Mxit not to mention the ways of keeping children safe on South Africa’s most popular instant messaging service, Mxit.

Like I mentioned before blocking of chat rooms is now available. The operation is pretty straight forward. Before going into the steps, well done Herman Heunis and team! This will surely make using Mxit much safer for our kids.

To block the zones log on with the registered number which you wish to block. Send a blank chat message to Info.

What an experience!

As most South African knows we waited and waited for the longest time for the Grade 12 results of 2008 to be published.

30 December 2008 results for Lydenburg High School were available. But as in the rest of South Africa some results were pending. With the results we had for my daughter we set off to Pretoria, a 400km drive. The first morning the papers warned of queues at the University stretching up to a kilometre. We decided online registration is the best option. While in the city we made the most of it and did all the shopping and site seeing that could be fitted into one day.

Shocked I realised the registration process for UNISA has changed. Read the rest of this entry »
